A Panamanian organization bringing in and trading football outfits confessed on Wednesday in New York to influencing the previous leader of Costa Rica’s football league for another situation in the extending FIFA debasement outrage.
Mimo International Imports and Exports conceded extortion for having illegally paid $500,000 to Eduardo Li, the ex-leader of the Costa Rican league who was captured in 2015, the government prosecutor’s office for Brooklyn said in an announcement.
Li himself confessed to coercion and extortion in October 2016, prompting his life suspension from FIFA, the world overseeing body for soccer.As part of its request, Mimo International consented to repay $500,000 to the Costa Rican league, to pay a $900,000 fine, and to willful exchange itself inside three months, the prosecutor’s office said following a US government court hearing.
