Everton midfielder Seamus Coleman faced a broken leg during international duty, the governing body FIFA will pay his wages who will be out for almost a year.

FIFA’s Protection Programme enables clubs to claim players wages under £112,731 a week if the players caught injury during an international match. Coleman who is understood to make around £42,000 a week will be compensated from the governing body.

Welsh left back Neil Taylor was shown straight red for a challenge on Coleman, during the Republic of Ireland’s 0-0 against Welsh in World cup qualification clash.

FIFA’s Protection Programme which was setup in 2012 from pressure from club enables to pay upto the value of all wages during injured player’s injury period, not exceeding £100m in a calendar year for all injured players.
