David Beckham’s Great Britian and Ireland XI beat Rest of the World Xi captained by Luis Figo in a charity match played at Old trafford.

With Carlo Ancelotti and Sir Alex Ferguson on the sidelines, not only the team but the refereeing panel too had some legends gracing the match. Italian referee Collina took charge of the first match with second half being played by Anthony Taylor. Ferguson put some big names in his team with David Beckham captaining the side. Former English International David James was the goalkeeper while David Seaman was on the bench. Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Phil Neville were all included in the starting lineup for Beckham’s team.

Figo took charge of the team in the pitch with Ancelotti in the sidelines. Edwin van Der Sar was in between the sticks with Cafu and Silvestre in the defense. Ji Sung Park, Patrick Kluivert, Ronaldinho, Pires, Seedorf and Solskjaer all started for the opposition. Landon Donovan was in the substitutes.

Paul Scholes opened the scoring with David Beckham providing the assist for the English midfielder as he converted skipper’s cross in goal.
