Nepal started the game in a positive note from the beginning of the match, the result was there displayed as they got ahead in an own goal from Kuwait. Sunil Bal’s through ball to Kiran Sunar was followed by a cross which got deflected to Kuwait’s Alkhaldi who forced the ball in for Nepal’s lead.

The scored could have leveled just before the closing minute of the half time, however Alenezi  wasted a goal scoring chance just before the closure of the first half.

The second half remained more competitive with Kuwait coming back with an improved effort to come back in the game.

Although it was Nepal that started the second half attack with Anjan Bista’s left footed shot that went just over the crossbar, Kuwait displayed an improved performance thereafter in the second half in an attempt to come back in the game. They earned a spot kick in 74th minute when Aakash Thapa fouled on Kuwait’s Alsulaili. Salem Albariki’s spot kick was well judged by Roman who got a hand into the ball but the ball went in for Kuwait’s equalizer in 75th minute.

Nepal earned a spot kick to gain back the lead in 81st minute after Anjan Bista was brought down in the opponent box. Bimal Gharti Magar delivered a terrific spot kick that goalkeeper Omar Mohammad had no chace with that earned Nepal full three points.

With the victory, Nepal unbeaten in their two group matches with four points awaits DPR Korea in the final match of the group which coach Bal Gopal Maharjan believes to be the tough side.
