Argentina kicked off their 2014 world cup campaign with a victory as an own goal awarded in the first half was doubled by Messi with super combination in a team play. Working from the heart of the midfield, Messi played one-two with Higuain before he went pass few defenders and releasing a shot that went in after striking the right hand post.
The debuntants displayed a brave comeback as they got a goal when Vedad Ibisevic raced through and squeezed a left-foot shot between the legs of Romero with five minutes remaining, however they realized that the time was far from over.
