India start their SAFF U-16 Campaign with 4-1 win over SriLanka in first Group B match played at Army ground, Lagankhel.
India took the lead from awesome heroics from Krishna Pandit. He got the ball in midfield as his solo effort resulted into first goal of the game. He fired from right corner of the box onto the net as his team saw themselves leading with great effort. Badeshwor whose cross in early minutes of the match was not utilized, this time he found his cross onto the net on goalkeeper’s mistake. Bedeshwor’s cross on 23rd minutes, two minutes after the first goal was turned into a goal on goalkeeper’s blunder as he failed to collect the cross onto his safe hand rather it was turned into a goal.

The first half remained 2-1 under India’s favour as they dominated the half. The only comeback hope came from beautiful effort on goal from S.S Niresh. His long distance shot beautifully found the net as the half ended 2-1.
Sri Lanka tried their best to come back in the game. Nicolos’ 54th minute shot was victim of India goalkeeper’s save as the team failed to comeback in the game.
The west Bengal man disapointed Sri Lankans to take his team forward. Prosenjit Chakraborty’s long ranger from almost 25 yards found the net as India were 3-1 up. The game ended 4-1 as Bedeshwor Singh found his double in closing minute of the game.
Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in second Group B match on 23 July while India will take on Bangladesh in 25th.
