More than 1000 schools to participate in The Coca-Cola Cup seventh edition which is the largest grassroots level U-16 Football tournament in the country expected to involve more than 16,000 students.
Coca-Cola Nepal, All Nepal Football Association(ANFA) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs today announced the start of the Coca-Cola Cup 2070 edition. More than 1000 schools have registered to participate in this inter-school U-16 football tournament, including those from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. This year, the tournament has increased its reach and scope to include players from 45 districts across Nepal, with more than 16,000 students expected to participate, making it one of the largest grassroots level school tournament in the country.
To encourage more schools to participate and support football at the school level, the winning team of both the Boys and Girls tournament will receive cash prizes. For the boys the winning team will receive Rs 3 lakhs and first , second and third runner ups will receive Rs 1.5 lakhs, Rs 75 thousand and Rs 50 thousand respectively.In the girls category, the winning team will be awarded Rs 2 lakhs, while the first, second and third runner ups will recieve Rs 1 lakh, Rs 50 thousand and 25 thousand respectively. There are also individual recognitions for the Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best midfielder and Best Forward.
The Tournamnet will be supported by Coca-Cola Nepal, ANFA and The Ministry of sports, with the total estimated budget of Rs. 1,24,60,000. Coca-Cola Nepal is supporting the tournament with 45 lakh rupees, the Misintry of Sports is supporting with 18 lakh rupees and remaining amount will be spent by ANFA.
According to Dhirendra Pradhan, General Secretary of ANFA,” ANFA is constantly encouring football platforms in tbe country and The Coca-Cola Cup is a great platform for youngsters to showcase their talent and skill”.
