Coca-Cola Nepal, ANFA and Ministry of Youth Affairs today announced the launch of The Coca-Cola cup 2013.
ANFA renew contract with Coca-Cola for organizing U-16 level inter school tournament. The partnership as been extended for further 5 years until the end of 2075.
Coca-Cola will be providing 45 lakhs Nepalese rupees for the first year which is more than double Coca-Cola provided in last agreement(NRS 18 lakhs per year) while the price amount will be increased by 5 lakhs next year. The amount for remaining three years is yet to be decided.
With increment in amount, ANFA aims to increase the participating team from 500 to 1500 which targets participation of 30,000 students in 45 districts. Students who are not from selected 45 districts can participate in the cup by registering and travelling to selected 45 districts.
The tournament started in 2006 has been a platform for ANFA to discover talent and scout players for ANFA academy.
ANFA president Ganesh Thapa thanked for Coca-Cola’s support in Development of Nepali Football in grassroot level.
“With such handsome sponsorship amount, Coca-Cola could have easily marked its name in major tournament. Being such recognized brand already, I appreciate Coca-Cola’s such effort in the development of Football in Nepal from the grass root level”, ANFA president cited reporters on a program held at United World trade center.
President Ganesh Thapa also claimed that the price money for the winning team will be increased which was 2 lakhs previously. The tournament is expected to start from Ashar 23 and is scheduled to last upto second week ok Ashoj.
