Puyol decides to play 5 more years

Barcelona central defender says he will commit himself into football until he is 40 which means he has 5 more years to play.

The 35 years old Barcelona captain claims that he will hang up his boots only when he reaches 40 which is the time his contract will end at Nou Camp.

The Spanish international has no intention to get rid of Football even of his knee problem for which he had surgery. Puyol has been crucial part of Barcelona defense since he made his first team appearance back in 1999.

“I have four years to run on my contract and my plan is to complete them and retire when I am 40,” Puyol told reporters on Friday. “My idea is to continue working on my fitness. The important thing is to be ready for when the league starts again” , the 35 years old defender said.

Puyol has already played 387 first team league games with Barcelona on which he has even scored 11 times.
