MMC confirms Quarter Final Place defeating Sankata

LH MMC and Nepal Army proceed to next round of the tournament as Anil Gurung and Sujal Shrestha scored double, Rupesh KC scored a piece for MMC.

Dipesh Yadav rescued his team from conceding early in the game as Yona’s flick on Anil Gurung’s third minute cross was blocked by Dinesh Yadav.

MMC scored in 25th minute of the game as Anil Gurung’s cross was tapped for a goal by Sujal Shrestha.

Sankata replied three minutes later when Bishal Shrestha saved Barsat Gurung’s long ranger.

Rupesh KC’s 34th minute attempt was saved by Sankata defenders in goal line when goalkeeper Dipesh Yadav was not in the position for the save but Rupesh himself scored later scored in 42 minutes. Yona’s first shot was blocked by Dipesh Yadav and Rupesh found the rebound to score on an open net as the first half scored remained 2-0 in MMC favor.

The second half started with Yona’s beautiful display and Dipesh’s brave save. Yona dribble passed two defenders and his final shot was blocked by advancing opponent goalkeeper Dipesh Yadav who remained active in most period of the game. Dipesh made another remarkable save in 68 minutes when his fingertip touch denied Shiva Shrestha’s powerful long ranger.

Barsat Gurung’s left footed shot was victim of Bishal Shrestha’s fine diving saved as Bishal stretched to his right to save Barsat’s ball.

MMC grabbed two quick goals as Sujal fired with his left footed shot near from the inner box which led Dipesh Yadav no chance. Anil Gurung stole ball from Sankata defender on a back pass to score 30 seconds later just after the game began after Sujal’s goal as MMC were already 4 goals up.

Sankata grabbed consolation as Rajeev Gurung was in good position to grab Komal Khawas’s ball which traveled above Bishal’s hand onto Rajeev’s feet.

Anil Gurung scored on Deepak Rai’s pass to add another for MMC in injury time as the final scored remained 5-1.

MMC with the win confirmed its place in quarter finals while Army also travels to next round while MMC fights Army in last game of Gurkha cup Group C which will decide group winners.
