Second half comeback defines the story of the game as Afghanistan upsets hosts Nepal in the opening day of AFC U-14 Championship group C qualifiers.

Nepal saw themselves unluck right on start of the match as Dorje’s second minute free kick got his teammates’ head and was denied by the top post. Minute later of Nepal’s attack, Afghani captain Abdul Naser Amini replied Nepal with simialr situation as his cool placement found the far post.

Nepal looked actively involved in attack but they never succeed until Skipper Manish Bahadur added the lead for the host team. Manish got a reboud after Nepal’s first attack hit the post and Manish Bahadur Karki got the rebound ball and placed it on target close from goal line without any trouble.

Afghanistan replied back early in the second half. Unmarked Omid Haidar Saneh scored on beautiful cross from Sher Ahmad Hamedi’s cross who did great work in left flank.

The game did not see any serious attack but Afghanistan utilized second chance as Mohammad Zaki Turkmani headed on empty post after poor defensive display from Nepalese defenders.

Dorje’s long shot was hardly punched away by Afghanistan goalkeeper Haidary for Nepal’c corner. The corner was almost turned into Nepalese equilizer but substitue Aashish’s header went inches away from the target.

Similarly in the first match, Bhutan were hammered 15 goals by Tajikistan. Afghanistan will take on Bhutan and Nepal faces Tajikistan on April 4 in comming fixture.
