Afeez Shines in RCT Win

Ivorian striker Oladipo Afeez scores two times in a game which ensures RCT way to the quarter finals where they will meet Group D runner-up.

Ranipokhari Corner team registered clean victory over struggling Himalayan Sherpa which ensured their path to the quarter finals. They proceed to the knock out stage as the group winner after they defeated all other three teams in the group stage.

RCT got their first breakthrough in the 5th minute after Yugal Kishor Rai scored for the winning team on a cross from Amar Dangol. Yugal found the net after he collected the ball which Afeez missed to score. RCT then got three other goals in the second half as Afeez found his name in all other three goals assisting one and scoring twice.

RCT got their first goal in the second half when Afeez did the hard work to provide Amar great ball in the box which he would have never missed. Although Sherpa displayed good game in midfield, they were not successful to convert any of them. Later Afeez who assisted the second goal scored 8 minutes later in 59′.

Himalayan Sherpa got their only goal in the game as Pukar Gahatraj(team captain) converted a penalty to score third time in the tournament. Sherpa were awarded the penalty as Dinesh karki fouled by Krishna Kunwar inside RCT’s box.

The goals galore did not stop as Afeez found another ball into the net. He utilized Himalayan Sherpa’s attacking formation to score on a counter attack. The game ended 4-1 favoring RCT as Afeez missed some fine chances which could have got him first hat-trick of the tournament.

Sherpa, soon after the loss got their hands off the tournament as they failed to find two goals difference. Sherpa hit the crossbar four times in the game which ruined away all their chances to score in the game.
