Shyam Nepali and Arjun Subba scored excellent goals to take APF to safe zone.
This match was crucial for both the team as APF were on pressure to stave off relegation whereas Sankata had to win to make their chance strong in Super 8. Sankatawere better than APF in the starting phase but could not score in 5 brilliant chances and their forward Rotesh Khadka had a day to forget. Sankata missed 3 clear chances in space of 2 minutes and it cost them later as Arjun Subba’s brilliant effort onĀ went into the top corner and APF were backĀ into the game totally against run of play. APF went into the half time with a goal lead but second better in play.
Sankata were left reeling when APF’s Shyam Nepali scored within 2 minutes of restart with a powerful shot which went straight into the roof of the net denying Sankata Goalie Pierre any chance of stopping the ball. APF had their regular forward Ganesh Lawati back and his play was a major boost for the departmental side throughout the match. Late in the match, substitute Ranjan Bista was sent off for his two cautions in space of 5 minutes for a foul and simulation act respectively. Sankata tried hard but could not break the duck despite playing good attacking football and left empty handed when the match came to its end.
