A goalless draw with Bangladesh in their final match of the group means Bangladesh proceeds to the semis as the group winners while hosts India go through as the runner ups. This is the first time in the history of the SAFF women’s championship that Nepal and India will meet in the semifinals. In three previous editions, they have both met only in the final of the tournament, India winning all the games to claim the title in all previous meetings.

Nepal topped the group A after winning all their group stages matches starting with a thumping 8-0 victory over Bhutan where Sabitra scored double hat trick for the victorious side. The win was followed by 9-0 triumph over Maldives which was followed by a slim 1-0 victory over Sri Lanka. Maldives were the group runner-ups that face Bangladesh in the semifinals.
