Defending Champion exits in Champions League

Antoine Griezmann’s two goals helped Atletico Madrid to go through semifinal of Champions League. They beat Barcelona with 3-2 victory in aggregate.

The Catalans suffered shock defeat against their local rival Atletico despite of having 2-1 goal advantage in 1st leg. Now they have ended the dream of repeating title treble. Barcelona have won just one match of their last five matches in all competition.

A technically measured cross from the Saul was converted into the goal by the stunning header by Griezmann to the left corner. Griezmann celebrated his goal on 36th minute of the game. By having one goal lead in first half,they may hold to go through the semi so second half of the game was different game comparison to the first half. Atletico had away goal advantage so Simeone strategy goes defencively. The mid was pulled out in defencive tactics.

Barcelona fired with attacking possession, they attacked, attacked. Unfortunately they were not in the way to go though the Semi Final of the Champions League Campaign. However they enjoyed 77% possession and more shots on target than Atletico. In the 87th minute of the game Griezmann scored again by penalty kick that sealed the fate for Atletico.
