Brazilian goalkeeper Heurhelo Gomes now plays for Watford in the Premier League, but this is not the first time he is playing for Premier League outfit.
Gomes came into the Premier League scene with Tottenham Hotspur. Gomes was part of the Spurs squad who played Champions League during season Spurs’ successful run in Europe’s elite league. Gomes was first choice in the Tottenham setup under Harry Redknapp but frequently received stick for his inconsistent performance for the team. Gomes usually had bad days in big matches and that was the reason he had to leave the club.
During the last season with the club,Gomes went from being first choice to third choice in no time. After horrific end to the season which saw Spurs hand 12point lead away, they brought in Brad Friedel on goal in a permanent move and also acquired services of Croatian International Stipe Pletikosa on a loan move. Gomes did not play any matches for the club that season and left the club the following year.
Since joining Watford, Gomes has been first choice on goal and has helped club promote from championship to the Premier League.
