These teams have played each other once in an international friendly match about five years ago and the match then ended without a goal being scored. The scenario has now changed and both the teams have taken a huge leap forward in footballing activities, the game is expected to be a competitive one.
In the last three friendly matches Latvia have been involved in, they have won two and lost one match. The recent match against Lithuania was won by Latvia while they beat Estonia in shootout. Their loss against Macedonia by 2-1 remains the only loss this year.
Armenia are actively involved in International Friendlies in recent years and they have had hard times playing bigger teams in recent matches. They won 4-3 against United Arab Emirates few months ago. They however faced heavy defeat against Germany by 6-1 ahead of the World Cup, the match in which Marco Reus was injured.
