Match Preview: Manchester City vs Liverpool

In the last six meetings between the sides, Manchester City have won just once while Liverpool have managed to register two victories. Three of those matches ended in a draw. In the last league match between these sides, Liverpool were victorious by 3-2 at Anfield. Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel scored two first half goals which was equalised by David Silvva and an own goal in second half. Philippe Coutinho scored the winner in 78th minute.

Manchester City won their first match against Newcastle United by 2-0 after Sergio Aguero and David Silva scored for the champions. Manchester City will play Stoke City in their Premier League fixture next week.

Liverpool played Southampton at Anfield in their first league match of the season and walked away with three points. They won 2-1 after Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturrdige scored for the hosts while Natahniel Clyne had the equlaizer for Southampton.

Team News:

Alvaro Negredo is out injured after carrying injury in pre-season duty. Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna are set to battle for the starting spot in right back after playing in the World Cup. New signing Elaquim Mangala is still not match fit and will sit away from this match. Fernandinho might make his return to the midfield after coming on as a sub in last match against Newcastle with Yaya Toure pushed further ahead.

Liverpool are without their new signing Adam Lallana who has resumed training but still away from match action. Fabio Borini and Daniel Agger are out with injury along with fullback Jon Flanagan. Alberto Moreno is avaialble for selection and might start ahead of Glen Johnson in the left back spot.
