FC Barcelona signs French Defender Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia

FC Barcelona have completed signing of French defender Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia CF

FC Barcelona have finally managed to sign a defender in this trnasfer window after some of their bids for other defenders were rebuffed. Jeremy Mathieu becomes the first defensive signing for new boss Luis Enrique. After a lot of rumors in the Spanish Press, Barcelona announced the signing today and the deal is said to be near around 20 million euros. Mathieu signed a four year contract with an option to extend it by a year.

Barcelona have already compelted signing of Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla, Claudio Bravo from Real Sociedad, Luis Suarez from Liverpool and Marco Ter-Stegen from Borussia Monchengladbach. Goakeeper Victor Valdes has left the club on a free transfer while Cesc Fabregas has been sold to Chelsea FC. Xavi Hernandez is yet to make his decision after not igning a contract extension with the Catalan club.
