Two quick involvements from Alexis Sanchez puts the game in Chilean favor as Chile defeat Australia in either side’s opening match.

Australia got a poor start after goal from Alexis Sanchez and Jorge Valdivi added early double for the South Americans, however the veteran experienced Tim Cahill pulled one back to add returning hope in a tight match.

With two goals already in 14 minutes and dominating possession from the South Americans, the game looked slipped from the yellows and it was just as how many goals the Chileans would thrash to their opponent goal. The story was until Cahill easily climbed above Gary Medel to meet Ivan Franjic’s cross and fired in a brilliant header to give Australia a way back into the game.

The second half would expect some real entertainment and Australia started in style in a hunt to comeback which was almost possible had the referee not blown for offside when the ball got inside the net.

Australia even had another few chances with Cahill dealing the defense well but his header was just over the frame, while Matthew Leckie missed out in another Ariel challenge that compelled Australia to set back throughout the game.

In the end, Chile wrapped up in style as Beausejour utilized Australia’s attacking behavior to find the net from distance.
