Wayne Rooney and Phil Jones Injury Update

Wayne Rooney of Manchester United is expected to lead the England attack.

Wayne Rooney was not involved in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Hull City last night. James Wilson scored 2 goals in his debut and Nemanja Vidic played his last game at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player. But the shock of the day was Phil Jones hobbling off injured in early stages of the game after colliding with Maynor Figueroa.

Ryan Giggs informed the reporters that Wayne Rooney was feeling ill and had a tight hamstring so he sat out of the game which had no specific importance. “Wayne is probably struggling for the game. He’s not quite recovered. We will continue to monitor him.”, Giggs told MUTV.

Rooney will not be risked for further matches as the World Cup is just around the corner and he is the key player for English National Team. Roy Hodgson will select his preliminary squad in about a week and Rooney is assured to go to Brazil. However, his Manchester United Teammate Phil Jones is nearing a World Cup trauma as he hobbled of the pitch injured in recent win over Hull City. Jones dislocated his shoulder after he clashed with Maynor Figueroa while vying for a ball.

Jones was expected to make it to the final squad traveling to Brazil as he offers several choices in defense as well as midfield. He had been constantly playing for Hodgson in friendlies as well. His absence will be a massive let down for the England squad who are also in fear of losing out Phil Jagielka of Everton, out injured in later stages of the season.

Gary Cahill and Steven Caulker are the next names to be on the plane to Brazil in case Phil Jones fails to make it and so does Phil Jagielka. Wayne Rooney though is expected to make it to the final squad and lead the line along with Daniel Sturrdige.
