Former Nepalese International and National Team Coach Krishna Thapa was awarded with Sarad Chandra Shah Memorial Football Prize 2070 on Monday.

Former Nepalese International and National Team Coach Krishna Thapa was awarded with Sarad Chandra Shah Memorial Football Prize 2070 on Monday.
Speaking on the prize distribution programme, Thapa pointed out the importance of former players in development of present context of Nepalese Football. He said there are only handful of people who are currently working for development of Nepali Football who previously have donned National colors in his time. He said we can be optimistic about the growth of football not only inside the country but in international level if more people get involved in the development of the sport.
He also said that he was happy that he was rewarded with this award as he dedicated his life to this sport and said he still has lots to offer. He is currently managing Nepal Armed Police Force and before that he had successful spell with Mannag Marshyangdi Club too. He took charge of Nationa Team during Saff Championship 2010 held in Dhaka as well.
He also pointed out that there were lots of people who deserved this award and was happy he was choosen as the winner. ‘I was asked to shortlist the deserving candidates and i had 86 names in my list to offer to the governing body. Former ANFA President and president of RPP-N Kamal Thapa was above in my list as he handeled both his playing career and development career at same time and he did it brilliantly.’, said Thapa.
Thapa was optimistic about the future of Nepalese Football and congratulated the U-14 girls’ team who won the recent tournament without conceding any goals and went undefeated throughout the tournament held in Sri Lanka.
