Day 1 – This was my first ever visit to Pokhara and the motive was to attend the 12th Aaha Rara gold cup. I reached Pokhara a day before the opening match. As I entered the city, first thing I noticed was a big banner of 12th Aaha Rara Gold cup. Then as I moved ahead, all I could see was advertisements of the game and big Football statue that made the city Footbaholic.
Day 2 – I entered the stadium an hour early of the kick off, it was all clean and green, I was amazed to see the banners all the way. There were more than 200 banners and it looked like majority of the corporate houses helped tournament succeed. That was the unity that helped Pokhara to establish as a Footballing city, at least my first experience with Pokhara compelled me considers Pokhara as a Football city that has lots of potential.
Hour passed by, and the media box was full of press, photojournalist surrounded the corner flags. I could notice more photo journalist comparatively than in Kathmandu during Ncell cup, British Gorkha cup or the A division league. That proved how valuable Football was in Pokhara.
The fans entered steadily and the Rangashala had enough of spectators to make the environment lively as the game kicked off.
The unity there, I could see everyone busy doing their duty to make the tournament successful one. Beside the game kicked off and I evidenced my first ever game in Pokhara, the surrounding was cool as a cucumber, I could enjoy the beauty of the nature along with the game, this may be why players often said they love to play in Pokhara.
May be because of this unity and footballing environment, Pokhara has produced many Footballers with Anil Gurung, Bijay Gurung playing best trade in Nepali Football.
If any other city could follow the path Pokhara has been moving in the development of Nepalese Football, I assure Nepali Fooball could be more attractive and could climb way up. If everyone is as enthusiast as Pokherli in developing football, than Nepalese Football could step a foot up in a ladder.
