Manchester City host Chelsea in FA Cup Fifth round tie at Etihad Stadium. Both teams are likely to start with some of the non starting players.
Manchester City beat Watford 4-2 in fourth round tie whereas Stoke City lost 1-0 to the home team at Stamford Bridge.
Both the Managers, Manuel Pellegrini and Jose Mourinho will be looking to have one over their fellow rivals at either of these teams have played in last five FA Cup finals. Chelsea has played 3 of them and won all 3 times, whereas Manchester City have won once and lost once, the recent one against relegated Wigan Athletic.
Manchester City will be without Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho and Matija Nastasic but they will have Samir Nasri and Javi Garcia back in contention for the squad. Joe Hart might be rested and Romanian custodian Costel Pantilimon might get the nod as favored in cup games by Chilean manager.
Chelsea have been rocked by injuries to John Terry and Gary Cahill and will join Van Ginkel on the sidelines. Jose Mourinho might start with Mark Schwarzer yet again as he is doing so in the cup fixtures.
In league meetings between these teams this season, Chelsea have won both the match with 1-0 away win just a couple of weeks ago. They beat, City 2-1 at home with Fernando Torres’ injury time winner.
Manchester City had extended rest this weekend as their league match against Sunderland was called off and Chelsea will be looking to be back to winning ways after dropping precious points to West Brom at home.
Chelsea are undefeated in 31 of their last 32 matches in the FA Cup while Manchester City has won 12 of their last 15 matches in the FA Cup. Jose Mourinho has won seven times and lost once against the team managed by Manuel Pellegrini, only one ending as a draw.
