Yona Elias scores a pair as MMC defeat Nepal APF 3-2 in their first match of the super league to keep hold onto the first position in the table.

The match was first of his year ban for Nabin Neupane who was banned for a year by ANFA disciplinary committee for manhandling referee Sudish Pandey. MMC fans were with a black arm band and some banners to protest against the ANFA’s decision.

MMC took the lead early in the game as Yona Elias utilized a poor marking from APF defenders to direct a ball delivered in a corner from Sulav Maskey.

Deepak Rai doubled the tally for MMC as he scored with some skills to dribble the ball rounding pass some defenders before making a simple finish in the end.

Rajendra Rawal brought APF right back in the game before the end of the first half as he made a beautiful chip controlling a ball from the midfield.

MMC were denied by a woodwork as Shiva Shrestha’s cracking long ranger was denied by the cross bar in the 51st minute, however Yona made it easy for the league leaders as he sent the ball between the keeper’s leg to make it 3-1 for MMC. Sagar Thapa turns out to find his own net in 81st minute however MMC register 3-2 victory as they stand clear and strong in the league table.

Nepal Police club will take on Laxmi Bank Three Star Club on the day after tomorrow, while MMC’s next match will be against NMB Bank Machhindra FC on 17th February.
