The CHAN African championship has caught up pace with knock out matches being played in the tournament. Gabon will face Libya in the quarter final match and the winner will face Zimbabwe that surprised to defeat Mali in the previous Quarter Final match.
Gabon qualified to the knock off stage as the group winners and they are undefeated in the tournament so far with two wins and a draw which makes them leaders with 7 points. Meanwhile Libya ended just a point ahead of Congo to secure knock out stage ending up as the runner ups of the group.
Gabon scored five goals and conceded just two goals in the group stage match and their tie came against Burundi where no teams scored any goals in the match.
Comparatively, Libya remains the superior team than their opponent Gabon in comparison to the FIFA ranking. Libya ranks 61 as they stepped 9 position up in recent update while Gabon moved down one step to lie 84th. However both teams have been doing exceptionally well with Gabon very firm at defending, it will be great competition to watch as both teams look to place themselves in the semifinal against Zimbabwe.
Libya’s national team was first initiated in 1918, but did not play an official international until 3 August 1953 but they have done exceptionally well in current periods.

The Gabon team has enjoyed better result recently with most of the National team got lots exposure in the highest tier league in Europe.
The eyes will be set on Gabon attacker Sokambi who scored twice for his nation when Gabon played their last group match against Mauritania.
