Simrik Saraswati Youth Club could hold onto the lead that came in second half on a free kick from Rius as they get first win in the league which comes over highly rated Tribhuwan Army.
The first notable attack came on a corner from Tribhuwan Army club in the 9th minute when Raju Tamang’s delivery was headed wide by Nawyug Shrestha.
The match remained even from both the sides but Army gained some attacks comparatively more that of SYC. Mahendra Khawas’s free kick in 18th minute went over the bar ruling out chance for Army.
Simrik Saraswati had their first chance ruled out when Ramesh Tamang got the most possible corner of the post; however Ganga Ram stood tall to tip away the ball denying Saraswati’s chance to stand forward in the game.
The half ended goalless with a closing effort from Bharat Khawas that went inches close to the far post.
The second half started with a weak shot from Dinesh Karki, his shot just from the box went off target, however the poor shot was followed by a terrific effort from Bharat Khawas. Khawas’s great effort in 48th minute got a fine touch from Saraswati goalkeeper Ashok Baral. The fine save restricted Army to take the lead in the game.
Although it was Army who went for serious attacks in the second half, Simrik Saraswati got them ahead with a free kick from Rius that went into the net. Rius who scored a 30 yard shot to steal point from RCT delivered similar free kick to gift a lead to the underdogs.
Army’s effort a minute later after the goal came from Jitendra Karki’s free kick which found a slight touch from Tanka Basnet but the ball move only inch close from far post making another Army attack unsuccessful.
Army remained wretched in other attack when a cross from Tanka Basnet beaten Saraswati keeper Ashok Baral, however Padam Tamang’s shot was well guarded by SYC defender Raj Shahi in Ashok’s absence.
Saraswati could keep their lead in two different threats, both saves coming from SYC defednder Bobby, first an acrobatic shot from Nawyug that was denied by Bobby while in the second occasion Boby guarded an empty net in Ashok’s absence. Tanka’s cross was punched by advancing Ashok and the ball fell on Raju Tamang who headed on target, however Boby just reached his head to divert the direction of the ball towards safety.
The final moments of the game saw back to back attacks from Army all being denied by Saraswati. The notable save came in forth minute of the extra time when Ahosk Baral made another remarkable save out of Tanka Basnet’s long ranger to get first victory of the league.
