Nepali National under-16 players are the most busiest team in the country currently as they have been training regularly since last 6 months and playing the tournaments continuously.
They participated in u-16 SAFF championship, U-16 Asian qualifiers and Safal Pokhara Cup recently and they are heading towards Sikkim for the Governor’s gold cup.
There might be some exposures but a serious question arises, Won’t playing them regularly effect their fitness ?
National u-16 team is travelling Sikkim for 34th Governor’s gold cup and will start their campaign on 9th November by playing against Eastern Railway. Currently they are opted as a best youth team Nepal ever had and they are giving results for the nation too. But is it beneficial to play them top level tournaments? Currently they lost 3-0 to HKNFA in Safal Pokhara cup. HNFKA were much more better than u-16 both physically and technically. Its always good to play against the strong opposition but not continuously in this age.
Captain Bimal Gharti Magar is currently studying in class 10 and most of the players go to the high school. It’s good to run football and education together but when asked, some of the players don’t even know the name of the institute where they currently study. This remains the age where they are not ready to adapt football professionally and they must also focus on studies.
The U-16 team is playing too much of football in small age in high challenge for the physical strength. Nirajan Malla was said to be the top youngster in Nepal but after attending top level early on his age, he faces and is going on through lot of injuries. The next example is Chetan Ghimire who is also considered as the finest product of the ANFA academy but he has been forced to retire after series of injury.
There remains a proverb, too much of something is good for nothing, playing these youngsters continious at this level early may have gloomy effect on those youngster. One thing that we must remember is ‘don’t cross the bride before they come to you’.
