Dipak Rai Goal Celebration

Dipak Rai took the early lead for Manang before Raju Tamang equalized in penalty ending the half 1-1.  The second half goal from Bishal Rai just before the closure of the match in 88th minute ensured MMC’s entrance in the finals.

MMC played a comfortable 5-0 win over Jawalakhel Youth club in their first match in third Safal cup. JYC had played out a brave 1-1 draw against Manang in the league last year but it was a completely different story as the two sides met in this one-sided cup clash, as Manang established their authority early on in the game.

Deepak Rai’s early opener in the 12th minute set the tone for the match, and second half goals from Sujal Shrestha, Sagar Thapa, Sulav Maskey, and Shiva Shrestha ensured JYC’s tournament ended with a heavy defeat at the hands of the defending champions, a result that surprised Betfair pundits.

In a season in which Manang have already won the Gorkha Cup and King’s Cup, the club now look in a great position to make it a treble of trophies by going on the way in the Safal Pokhara Cup and defending their title.

Manang coach, Hemant Rana, was left feeling satisfied with his team’s first half performance but praised his side for their second half performance, which saw the team add another four goals.

“We wasted a few chances in the first half but we converted chances well in the second period. We dominated the whole game. I hope this level of performance continues,” said Ran after the game.

MMC will face Three Star club in the finals, but the latest odds from betfair.com suggest that it is going to be hard for TSC to be able to stop a rampant Manang from adding another trophy to their collection.
