India survived Afghanistan in penalty shoot out and will now meet host Nepal which promises to be exhilarating final to be played at Dasarath Rangashala.

India entered the final of the tournament with 4-3 victory in penalty shootout after 90 minutes of regulation time saw no goals between these two teams. Meanwhile Nepal sidelined Bangladesh 5-1 in first semifinal played at Dasarath Rangashala in front of 10,000 home fans to proceed to the finals of the tournament.

Nepal remained third in the first edition of SAFF u16 championship played at Kathmandu. Nepal were stopped in semifinals of the tournament by India in 4-2 tie breaker after the regulation time could not separate two teams on a 1-1 draw. However India got disappointed in final loosing 2-1 to Pakistan.

Both India and Nepal made their way to the semifinals of the tournament as group winners. India remained in three teams group after Maldives withdrawn their participation. With two outstanding win in group matches, India adjudged as the group winners. Nepal in the other hand played dominating game over all their opponents, however made a comeback against Afghanistan in second group stage match to end up draw.

Bimal Gharti Magar of Nepal(6) and captain Hemant Thapa Magar(4) remain first and second in SAFF U16 2013 championship top goal scorer list while India’s Bedashwor Singh shares third position along with Nepal’s Sujan Limbu with three goals.
Nepal with the home support are desperate to win the tournament while India keep faith not to repeat the same thing that happened two years ago at Dasarath Rangashala in first edition final.
