Nepal Police club underperform yet again as Army marches on to the semifinals of the Gurkha cup 2013. Kashi Raj scored double on Army’s 3-0 win.

Jumanu rai started the game on a positive note for Nepal Police, however he could not score after his nice display. He beats few Army defenders in the seventh minute but fails on final impression.
Tanka Basnet did all the hard work in the first goal of the match as he outran Suraj Bk who looked lazy to chase the ball. Tanka’s unstoppable run found Kashi Raj who scored in open net as Tanka Basnet cross already surpassed Ritesh Thapa.
Jumanu Rai’s attempt on 33 minute could have been the equalizer for Nepal Police club but his brilliant shot was saved by equally brilliant save from Ful Bahadur Lama. Police club’s second good chance was wasted by Dipen as Jumanu’s fine cross was missed by Dipesn Shresta who could not collect the volley for a goal.
Nepal Army doubled the lead in starting period of second half, Kashi Raj scored in easy header as Ritesh Thapa advanced forward and missed to punch the ball on Mahendra Khawas’s free kick.
The lead was tripled in 63rd minute and Nepal Police club looked hopeless. Three of the scored goal were directly or indirectly the reason for Police’s mistake. Ajit Bhandari lost the possession in the midfield as a result, Tek Bahadur Budathoki took the advantage to pass the ball to Naresh Meche. Meche’s first shot struck the post and Meche himself scored on a rebound to triple the lead.
Nepal Army did not stop atttacking despite of three goals lead. Tanka Basnet was terrific with his oace at the flank as his 71st minute effort just went inches away from the far post. It was Tanka who again made good run but his final shot was denied by Ritesh’s finger tip save.
Jumanu Rai made an attempt to find the consolation goal for Nepal Police club but his shot was saved by Ful Bahadur Lama who was bothered only in fewer locations.
Kashi Raj was near to his hatrick as the game inched closer towards the final whistle but Kashi Raj’s save from near the target was denied by Ritesh Thapa who made good final save and the match ended 3-0.
Nepal Army will play either Boys Union or RCT in the semifinals decided by the last quarter finals which will be played the day after tomorrow.
