The most interesting match of the quarter finals is expected to be the departmental rivalry where the group A runner ups Nepal Police club will take over group C winners Nepal Army club.
NMB Machhindra took control over the group A ahead of defending champions Nepal Police club. Machhindra defeated all its three opponents to qualify as the group winners while Nepal Police club remained second as they won to Munal club, lost against group leaders Machhindra and drawn to Sarawati on a match where a draw could confirm Police’s place in the next round.
Group B was dominated by Three Star club who defeated B Division DeshBhakta 6-0 in their opening match, hammered RCT 5-1 in the second match while defeated APF 1-2 on a comeback game. RCT remained group runner ups with win over APF in their opening match and DeshBhakta in their closing match.
Nepal Army club delivered outstanding performance against LH MMC on a match which was considered the best group stage match. The decider from Tanka Basnet confirmed Nepal Army club as the group winners while MMC satisfied in second position to qualify as the group runner ups.
Ashim Jung Karki Celebrates solo goal in Boys Union’s final group stage match
Group D remained the most competitive match as all four teams waited till the end of the last group stage match to identify their fortune. The group comprised of all four A division outfits with Boys Union remaining the underdogs as a newly promoted side. Amazingly Boys union stood as the group leaders winning two matches and sharing equal points with Samsung Jawalakhel Youth club. The head to head method decided Boys Union club the winners of the group as Boys Union defeated Samsung Jawalakhel Youth club 3-2 in their meeting.
