Southampton looks to be happy with Liverpool’s apology over the matter of Virgil van Dijk and consider the matter to be closed.
Liverpool confirm that they had entered in interest to sign van Dijk and make an apology to Southampton after the Saints considered Liverpool’s approach to pursuit the defender was illegal. Southampton had reported Liverpool to Premier League with request to punish the reds, however the apology would consider end of matter.
Liverpool release an statement earlier, “Liverpool would like to put on record our regret over recent media speculation regarding Southampton Football Club and player transfers between the two clubs.
“We apologise to the owner, board of directors and fans of Southampton for any misunderstanding regarding Virgil van Dijk. We respect Southampton’s position and can confirm we have ended any interest in the player.”
