The Portuguese has got been unemployed since his sacking by Chelsea in December but has been persistently associated with Louis van Gaal’s work at Manchester United.

Van Gaal has a year of his United deal remaining but results and fan judgment are going against him, meaning it would certainly not come as a shock if he left old Trafford 12 months early on.

On Mourinho’s part, the three-time Premier league winner has said he’s hopeful of a summer season return having rejected a number of offers since Chelsea dumped him because of his poor  defence.

Talking with professional banterfest Fletch and Sav on BT Sport, the 53-year aged said:
“I was fortunate to have good alternatives since I  left Chelsea in December,” Mourinho said.

“Yes I was fortunate to have not merely options but good options but I determined to wait calm in my own corner, not disturbing, waiting just, examining a few lies, pay attention to a few lies.”

“The truth is that I wish to do the job and normally July, mid-July, new pre-season starts off and somewhere I wish to be there.”
