When Liverpool signed the versatile midfielder cum defender from Bayer, not many would have thought he would make this big impact in such a short period. But the German International, who made his debut as a full back replacing legend Phillip Lahm in the lineup could be handed a different role in Liverpool this season.

Can could be handed a defensive midfielder role or could share the central midfield along with skipper Jordan Henderson and James Milner. Can was interviewed by a Liverpool fan site and he was positive about it.

‘I want to do more in attack and I know I can improve in that area of my game,’ he told Liverpool Echo.
‘I want to do much more going forward in terms of scoring goals and providing assists.
‘I’m trying to bring that into my game and I’m working on it in training.
‘I always try to do my best and put in the running and help out in defence. I’m determined to work hard in defence and in attack.’
