The awaiting moment nears as the final of the SAFF U19 championship arrives here at ANFA complex, satdobato, with Nepal meeting India in the finals puts icing in the cake.

Nepal look to avenge the defeat they faced against U16 team in previous edition when they lost 1-0 to India back in Dasarath stadium to satisfy as the runner ups at home, however the task would not be easy to get to the victory against the team which has not conceded a single goal on their way to the final.

Nepal look to benefit against the great home support, however Indian coach believes the players are almost familiar playing with Nepalese crowd, thanks to the fans who cheered against India for Bangladesh when the blue tigers sidelined Bangladesh on a tie breaker which even the Indian coach believes was a lucky victory for them.

“The luck favors the brave, yes we were lucky to win”, the coach said in the post match conference replying to a reporter who asked if the penalty retake decision changed their luck to enter the finals.

“The game went to the tie breaker and we won, that was a luck itself.” , he added.

“Our boys did not have experience to face the crowd, however the Nepalese crowd supported Bangladesh, and we still won, this has already added an experience for the boys to play against the crowd”, he smarty answered when a reporter asked if crowd would be benefit to the home side.

Similarly Nepalese side with injury woes still believe that they have capable players in the bench to replace the injured players if they need to.

“We have players with caliber in the bench, so we would not worry for the injuries”, coach Bal Gopal Maharjan said.

The versatile holding midfielder Gaurav Budathoki who has been pairing at the center back alongside Ananta Tamang was forced out with an injury after he was played at the left back. He could be uncertain for the final match, however coach Bal Gopal Maharjan believes that is not an issue to worry for the home side.

Similarly Bimal Gharti Magar’s injury has been cited minor and Bimal would be fine enough to play for the title match.

The Belgium bound forward has been the point of attraction for the team and starred against Bhutan scoring a hat trick including a wonder half volley, however he has failed to score since then.

“The team work has improved and we have been playing as a team. My personal performance might not have met expectations but result is what it matters. “, Bimal said in the post match conference after semifinal victory against Afghanistan.

“I will give my best in the finals and my performance shall improve”, he added.

Players to Watch

The final will certainly see some future prodigies playing together and against each other. Bimal, with such hype would certainly be a man to watch. Beside him, Ananta Tamang, a man with command at the heart of Nepalese defense would be another player to watch. The U19 defender who got a call up against India friendly for the senior team has been a key to Nepal’s success so far. Beside Anjan Bista, who has already scored three times in the tournament will be another player to keep an eye on. The versatile attacker has been an asset to coach Bal Gopal Maharjan who has deployed him in almost every positing, playing him as a center striker, as a wide player, a central attacking midfielder and even as a defensive midfielder.

For the Indian side, Jerry Mawihmingthanga will be the man to watch as many would not know already that he was the lone scorer in the U16 SAFF championship final back in Dasarath Stadium that helped Indian to win the title to heartbreak the capacity home crowd back then.

The final will certainly be a match to watch as Nepalese fans look to experience Nepal lift the SAFF championship for the first time, however the Bangladesh coach himself believes Nepal has to play at their best to win against India who remain firm from the very beginning of the tournament.
