This is the first meeting between the sides in a competitive match. Wolfsburg started their pre-season friendly with a draw against Polish outfit L Gdansk as the scoreline ended 1-1. The second game scheduled to be played against Krakow ended up cancelled. Wolfsburg will travel to Switzerland to face FC Zurich in few days time.

This is Ajax’s fourth match in space of two weeks. Ajax, like Wolfsburg began their pre-season with a draw as the Dutch outfit were held to a 2-2 draw by Dinamo Moscow. Ajax then beat FC Nordsjaelland by 3-1 at home and came over Greek outfit Panathinaikos by 2-0 at the same venue. Ajax will face Saint Etienne in the midweek at France.
