Irish FA were offered 5 million euros by FIFA to not proceed any legal action against the handball by France’s Thierry Henry in the 2009 World Cup qualifiers.
In wake of series of events which is keeping world football in a state of shock, another news has emerged from Ireland. CEO John Delaney has revealed that FIFA offered the Irish FA 5 million Euros in order to stop any legal proceedings over the infamous handball incident.
France dashed hopes of Ireland in FIFA Qualifiers match after Thiery Henry handled the ball inside the box to result in a goal which knocked out the Irish team from a chance to feature in the finals of the 2010 edition of FIFA World Cup, which was held in South Africa.
There were serious obligations from the Irish FA after the game and they even threatened FIFA over taking legal actions and some rumors about 33 team World Cup also stood a chance but none of it happened and the case closed with time.
