Former Liverpool and Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa is said to be closing in on a return to the Anfield after finidng his chances limited in Real Madrid’s lineup. Arbeloa has lost his starting berth to Dani Carvajal and with Madrid said to have agreed terms with Danilo of FC Porto, it is crystal clear that Arbeloa is not in Ancelotti’s plans for the next year. Arbeloa has started just six matches this year, all of those in unavailability of Carvajal and came on as a substitute eight times.

Rodgers is looking for a right back in the market as Johnson’s contract expires this summer and Liverpool are not offering him an extension after poor performances in recent matches despite earning 100k per week. Southmpton’s Nathaniel Clyne and Barcelona’s soon to be free agent, Dani Alves are also being looked upon as possible arrivals.
