Spanish defender Angle Rangel has signed a new contract with Welsh club Swansea City.
Swansea City defender Angel Rangel has signed a new contract with the club which will keep him at the club till 2017. The Spanish right back came from spanish lower league Terressa in 2007 and has been an integral part of Swansea’s team. He was key player in the club’s journey from League One to the Premier League. He also won the League Cup title with Swansea in 2013.
However, Rangel is not the first choice right back in the team after the signing of Tottenham’s Kyle Naughton in January. Rangel last started for Swansea in 1-1 draw against West Ham United in January 10. Despite the loss of starting berth, Rangel is optimistic about his chances and said that the competition inside the team will better the performance and that is what everyone in the club aim for. Rangel was into the second last year of the contract and he praised the club’s commitment in keeping the long serving player.
