Sergio Ramos is close to signing a new contract with Real Madrid as per the sources in Spain.
Spanish International and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is set to sign a new contract with the club which will keep him with the capital club for a long time. Manager Carlo Ancelotti voiced the importance of the center back in press conference and hinted that the defender is close in singing a new contract and will not be leaving the club anytime soon. Ramos is a top transfer target for two English clubs Manchester United and Arsenal after both the sides are being troubled in defensive performances.
Ramos, who was one of the most influential player in the world got into the FIFA FIFPro Team of the Year after he had an excellent season with Real Madrid. Ramos scored important goals at times for the Madrid based side and took the plaudits as the best defender of last season in La Liga. Sergio Ramos joined Real Madrid from Sevilla in 2005 and he has been rock at the back since then for the madrid club. He scored the equaliser in the 90th minute against City rivals Atletico Madrid in the final of UEFA Champions League last season. En route to the famous La Decima victory, Ramos scored in both semifinal legs against Bayern Munich as well.
The 28 year old center back, who started his career as a right back still has age on his side and with 15 starts out of 18 league matches this season with Real Madrid, he is an asset for the club. Ancelotti is adamant that the defender will be staying with the club in years to come and that will mean Manchester United will need to turn their interest to others to solve their defensive crisis.
