Victor Valdes has been named as a substitute in Manchetser United’s Premier League match against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road
Victor Valdes is currently second fiddle to Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea and has been performing very well throughut the season. Valdes however is also determined to challenge fellow Spaniard as Number one spot in Manchester United’s goal.
Louis Van Gaal now has luxury of resting his first choice goalkeeper, and might start off playing Valdes in upcoming FA Cup fourth round tie against lower league outfit Cambridge United. Valdes signed 18-month deal with Manchester United last week and is determined to prove his worth. Valdes couldn’t contain his excitement after signing for United.
‘For me, it is like a dream. I played for Barca for a lot of years and that is also a big club, I have loved the club all my life.
‘I think this is the same. It is a big club around the world with a lot of fans.’
Valdes recently turned 33 year old and signed for Manchester United this January after training with them in later part of 2014. Valdes agreed a pre contract with Monaco while on Barcelona but the french club refused to sign him after Valdes suffered a serious injury in March. Valdes was said to have failed his medical in France and he was training with Manchester United since last October.
Valdes was regarded as one of the top shot stopper in Europe and injury sustained in last March has been a turning point of his career. It is rumored that Valdes might take the case between Monaco and his pre contract to court after the club declined to pay him any contract compensation. Valdes did not sign extension with Barcelona after he agreed a pre-contract but after Monaco did not sign him, he spent later part of last year as a free agent.
