Fernando Torres scores two goals as Ateltico Madrid knock Real Madrid out of Copa Del Rey

Fernando Torres scored with his first touch of the game as Atletico held Real Madrid to a 2-2 draw in the second leg to see the holders knocked out of the competition. Torres scored goals in each halves to see Champions League holders and defending champions out of Copa Del Rey.

Torres opened the scoring in  47th second as his shot from the centre of the box went into the top left corner. Antoinne Griezmann created the assist after beating Pepe. Real Madrid then needed at least four goals if they were to go trough and it looked like that could be on the cards when Sergio Ramos headed in Toni Kroos’ set piece delivery to level the scoring oon the night and make it 3-1 in aggregate.

Fernando Torres was once again in mood to put the Real Madrid dreams in bed as he scored once again as soon as the second half started. Griezmann was once again the hero with the assist. Torres just went past Pepe and put it beyond Navas. Simeone was ecstatic with the goals and that too from his new signing who was always a hero in the fans’ eyes.

Madrid showed a glimpse of comeback when Ronaldo scored with a header off Gareth Bale’s cross. Ronaldo and Bale swapped wings in second half and looked dangerous but Atleti held on well to see off the challenge from the defending champions. The game then did not provide any goals despite both the sides creating some chances in front of goal ut failing to get it beyond the goalkeeper. The game was a bit busier in referee’s perspective as there were eight bookings in the match with 14 fouls from home side and nine from the away team.
