EvertonĀ and Belgian International teammates Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas dedicated their goals in recent FA Cup tie to Junior Malanda.
Romelu Lukaku dedicated his goal against West Ham to his friend Junior Malanda, who lost his life in a car accident on Saturday. Malanda, who plays for Wolfsburg in Germany was killed in a speeding car while sitting behind. It is said that the midfielder did not have his seat belt on while the car skidded off the road in wet conditions.
Lukaku scored in last night’s FA Cup as Everton went 2-1 up in a tight match. Everton went on to lose the match in sudden death as Steven Naismith and Joel Robles missed their spot kick. Stewart Downing missed the kick for West Ham. Everton have crashed out of The FA Cup and are struggling in the league as well. Lukaku has looked bleak in front of goals in recent term.
Junior Malanda played is youth career in Lille, Anderlecht and Brussels. He signed for Wolfsburg in window of 2013 from Zulte, where he spent a season with Thorgan Hazard. Malanda had been playing regularly this season and had two assists to his name. He has also played for all the youth team in National team and was considered one of the hottest prospects in Belgian Football and Europe too.
Lukaku and Malanda, came up from the same neighborhood and their mothers are best friends. Lukaku was informed about the death of Malanda after Everton’s draw against Manchester City. Lukaku then tweeted a few words about the death of his close friend. Romelu Lukaku’s brother Jordan Lukaku, who currently plays for Malanda’s former club Zulte was also a very close friend. Throgan Hazard, who is currently on loan from Chelsea to Monchengladbach also paid tribute to Belgian youngster.
