Scotland and Ireland have played each other three times in last 15 years and Ireland has the upper hand with two victories while Scotland have managed just one of them. The most recent encounter between the sides was played in 2011 and Ireland snatched 1-0 win. Robbie Keane’s 23rd minute strike was enough to see the Irish winning the match.
Scotland are due to face England in midweek while Ireland play United States of America as part of their International Friendly fixture. Ireland defeated Oman by 2-0 in their last international friendly while Scotland played 2-2 draw against Nigeria recently.
Team News:
Defender Phil Bardsley and Midfielder Craig Bryson are both ruled out of the games against Ireland and England after picking up an injury. Johnny Russell and Callum Paterson have been called up as the replacement for the injured duo.
Kieran Clark and Alex Pearce will battle for a spot in centre back alongside John O’Shea as Marc Wilson is out injured. James McCarthy has been ruled out of these matches and Darron Gibson could start in the defensive midfield. Glen Whelan is also out injured and will not feature in this international break.
