Sankata stunned Tribhuwan Army by 1-0 to book a place in Finals of ANFA Cup 2071.
Sankata beat Tribhuwan Army by 1-0 to book a place in the final of ANFA Cup 2071 today. Suman Lama scored the sole goal of the match as Sankata stunned the departmental side. Suman scored in 62nd minute of the match as Sankata set the final clash with Jhapa.
Sankata started better of the two teams as Bikash Malla was force to make a diving save off Uttam Gurung’s free kick which seemed travelling towards the top corner. Sankata kept pressing on for the lead but Army came even closer with a close range effort from Deepak Gurung. Gurung’s shot from inside the six yard box hit underside of the crossbar and army were unlucky to not be ahead with half-time just around the corner.
Sankata kept on pushing for goal in the second half as well and the effort finally paid off as Suman’s shot from right byline went in goal from over the head of custodian Bikash Malla. Army then pressed hard with attacking substitutions but Raju Yogi stood tall to keep his team in the lead. Army kept on creating chance after chance but could not find the back of the net and crashed out in the semis.
Sankata will now face Jhapa XI in the finals of ANFA Cup 2071 on Wednesday. The game will start on 1:00PM at Dasarath Stadium.
