Jhapa FC reached the final of ANFA Cup 2071 after beating APF by 2-0 in the first semi-final held at Dasarath Stadium today. Karna Limbu score both the goals for the winning side as Jhapa booked a place in the final of the tournament. Jhapa will now face winner between Tribhuwan Army and Sankata, which will be played tomorrow.
Karna Limbu scored the first goal in 22nd minute of the match after he got into the end of Pravesh Katuwal’s freekick inside six-yard box. His flick left Amrit Chaudhary and Palsang Lama stranded. The second goal came late in second half as Palsang Lama yet again made an error by bringing down Karna inside the box and Karna converted it easily to score second.
Jhapa were better of the two teams as they dominated all the areas of the game. Karna Limbu and Bishal Rai ‘A’ were brilliant in the attack as they pressurized the APF defense throughout the game. APF hardly had any attacking move as they failed to register any goal-threats. Jhapa defense were hardly given a hard time as midfielders controlled the game throughout.
APF Coach Krishna Thapa was not happy with their player’s performance and praised Jhapa FC’s game. ‘Our opponents played very well and deserved the win, we had an off day at the office today and paid a heavy price for it’, said Thapa.
Jhapa FC Coach Baghirath Ale was optimistic about his team’s title chance and said they are on a high morale and are aiming to take the trophy home all along. ‘We knew about our opponents very well and utilised their weak points pretty well to take the control of the match early on. On other day, we could have won by larger margin but the win matters the most.’, Ale ended.
