Manchester United are yet to register a win in competitive match under new manager Louis Van Gaal, and the story was no different as Manchester United played MK Dons in a Capital One Cup fixture. This was the worst result for the Manchester team, who last lost to York City in League Cup tie about 20 years ago.

Van Gaal took a huge risk by making lots of changes to the team that drew at Sunderland and gave start to many youngsters which backfired. He didn’t even include his star players in the substitutes and had no way out as the lower league team started to score.

Jonny Evans, who was making his comeback from injury skippered the side but had a game to forget as his mistake cost United a lot with Will Grigg scoring his first of two goals. Javier Hernandez and Danny welbeck started up front with Kagawa just behin in much beloved formation for Louis Van Gaal. Just like the previous times, the gameplan backfired and Manchester United were on the backfoot.

William Grigg opened the scoring in 25th minute of the match after Jonny Evans gave away the ball and no cover was found for David De Gea. William Grigg doubled his and the team’s tally in 63rd minute. Benik Afobe then scored to put the score 3-0 and then completed the rout with a goal in 84th minute.

The loss means Manchester United are now out of Capital One Cup and with no European involvement, there is a possibility that they will just need to play 37 more games this season (in case they lose their FA Cup tie). Louis Van Gaal has already said that ‘Winning title in first season will be a miracle”.
