Sunderland manager Gus Poyet will be without the services of Billy Jones and Emanuele Giaccherini, which would mean the Uruguayan might start with the same team as he did in the first match. Jordi Gomez is pushing for starting berth after coming on from the bench on last game. Santiago Vergini is a doubt but could play a part in the match.

Manchester United are under huge pressure after losing in their first home match against Swansea. They are without Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera and Maroune Fellaini. Jesse Lingard hobbled off injured in last match and Valencia is yet to be fully fit. Robin Van Persie is yet to play for the club and so is Danny Welbeck.
