Borussia Dortmund welcome Bayer 04 Leverkusen in their inaugural game of the Bundesliga season 2014/15.

In the last six meetings between the sides, Borussia Dortmund have won half of those matches while walked away with a point in two occasions. Bayer Leverkusen have won just one match in this run. The most recent match between these sides ended in a 2-2 draw.  Lars Benders’ early lead was equalized by Oliver Kirch. Gonzalo Castro then put his team in front again but Reus’ penalty goal levelled the match and the teams shared a point each.

Team News:

Borussia Dortmund have a long list of injuries and fitness issues. Despite the issues, they won German Super Cup against Bayern Munich and are on a high. Ilkay Gundogan, Oliver Kirch, Nuri Sahin and Marcel Schmelzer are sure to miss out of the match due to injuries. Adrian Ramos is a huge doubt up front while Ji Dong-Won also might stay out of the game due to fitness concerns.

Leverkusen have a fully fit squad par Lars Bender, who is unfit and will sit out of the starting lineup. New signing Hakan Calhanoglu might be handed his debut match after completing his move from Hamburg. Kiriyakos Papadopoulos completed his move from FC Schalke 04 and is expected to pair up with Emir Spahic at the back.
